A Lapa skirt is a traditional West African Wrap Skirt with strings on both ends. It is worn like a sarong, tied around the waist to give the most gorgeous silhouette. My beautiful nani is from West Africa, who graced us with the beauty and elegance of African prints. It is also quite fascinating how so many indeginous cultures use the same fabric making and dyeing methods. This beautifully dyed ensamble is paired with a matching straight cut blouse, very similarly to how the lapa is styled back at nano's home.

Nani brought the first piece here to pakistan for my dadi, as a token to welcome her into the family and culture. My dadi never got the chance to wear it here. But yes after a lot of decades that original lapa landed with me. And this is just an attempt to let my grandmother's legacy live on. One of the most graceful women I have witnessed. And especially for my mother, who has taught me to love and enjoy both sides of my heritage. Hope you enjoy this piece as much I did while making it.

A tie up skirt with an embroidered detailing on the side. Just another sifur piece that you can drape.
